First call: the aging office for her address

These offices exist to answer the question "what help is there for us?" They know what is open in her ZIP code this month, which a website cannot.

For Parkinson's, the aging offices above are still the first local call. Questions about her therapy or her medicines go to her neurologist, her therapists or her pharmacist.

Respite: getting the hours back

For paid help in the house, private duty companies such as the one in the disclosed paid slot on the front page can start with a few hours. Missouri's health department describes that kind of care on its three types of care in the home page.

What is not on this page

We did not print a St. Louis County government number, because the county's older resident programs page did not open for us on the day we checked, and this desk does not print a number it has not read. We also do not list or rate private companies here. The one company on this site is the paid placement, and it is labeled every time.
